Walter Frank Davis Sr.

Mr. Walter Frank Davis, Sr., age 80, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 3, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be Thursday, 2:00 pm at Leak Memory Chapel, with visitation at 1:00 pm. Rev. Mike Northcutt will be officiating the services. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

Mr. Davis is survived by his wife of 59 years, Janice Goolsby Davis, two daughters, Franki White and Wanda (Stanley) McCullers, five grandchildren: Adam Hayes, Amber (Daniel) Blazer, Heather McCullers, Chris (Jessi) Hayes, and Hillary (Chase) Sullivan, five great-grandchildren, Makenna Blazer, Micah Blazer, Krista Blazer, Callie Sullivan, Luka Sullivan, one sister, LeDean Phipps and one brother, Gene (Cindy) Davis, along with many other nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be Adam Hayes, Chris Hayes, Daniel Blazer, Danny Davis, Andy Davis and David Davis.

He was preceded in death by his son, Walter Frank Davis, Jr., father, William Kelly Davis, mother, Mildred Hughes Davis, two sisters and five brothers.

He was originally from Jemison, AL. After serving in the U.S. Army, he returned to Montgomery and married his wife, Janice Goolsby Davis.

Mr. Davis worked as an exterminator in the tri-county area for 59 years. He established his own business, Davis Exterminating Co., in 1979. He proudly serviced his customers for the past 42 years, retiring in 2021.

Mr. Davis was a member of Eastmont Baptist Church. He always had a passion for gospel and county music. He played the guitar and enjoyed the old gospel hymns. He and his wife later joined family members of the gospel group, ‘The Sunshine Singers’, who, in the 1970’s traveled around the state singing at churches, revivals and homecomings.

He was a loving and much-loved husband, father, and Pawpaw. His family was his life. His presence and strength will be very much missed, but his family has a lifetime of treasured memories, and he will live forever in their hearts.
