HANCOCK, Virginia Taylor (Ginny) 77, of Montgomery, Alabama passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emory Daniel and Frances Maddox Taylor. She is survived by her beloved husband of 48 years, Sam Elwood Hancock Jr.; her sons John Hancock and Danny Godfrey; her daughter, Heather Watts; her son, Bo (Elizabeth) Hancock; grandchildren, Kelsey (Hunter) Elwood, Taylor, Tanner, and Talynn Rae Watts, Lakemon and Hollis Hancock; great-granddaughters, Lynnlee May Watts and arriving soon, Lillian Campbell Elwood; Kelsey's mom, Jodi Hatley; sister, Candace Taylor; brother, Vance Taylor, and many other family and friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, April 28, 2024 at 2:00 at Leak Memory with Reverend Frank Bowling, Brother Mike Northcutt, and Dr. Bobby DuBois officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will take place before the service from 1:00 to2:00. Pallbearers will be Matthew Cole, Hunter Elwood, Bo Hancock, Tyler Norris, Chris Pierce, and Tanner Watts. Honorary pallbearers will be John Hancock and Danny Godfrey.
Ginny was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School and then was called to work in missions. She was employed by the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions for twenty-four years, where she later retired. She loved the Lord and was a member of Eastmont Baptist Church in Montgomery.
She will be remembered for many things. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was known as Gammie to all of her grandchildren whom were her pride and joy.
