Vera Ann Brinkley Anderson, 88, longtime resident of Montgomery, AL, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, April 24, 2023. She was born on September 24, 1934 in Osceola, Arkansas to parents Roy and Verna Brinkley. Vera was the fourth of five children. Vera married Louis L. Anderson Junior on July 2, 1953.
Vera attended Arkansas State and the University of Arkansas. She was a beloved kindergarten teacher at the Southeast YMCA for many years and finished her career in the loan processing department of SouthTrust Bank. She played basketball at Dale High school in Dale Arkansas. She loved to travel, sew, garden, fish, spend time with her two grandchildren and loved Auburn sports.
She was a member of the Pathfinders Sunday School Class at Aldersgate United Methodist Church. She will always be remembered for her funny stories, Halloween costumes and quick wit by all who knew her. She is survived by daughters Cindy Anderson Bedsole (John) and Rhonda Anderson Jones and two grandchildren Brinkley Elizabeth Jones and Bryce Anderson Bedsole that were the twinkle of her eye; two sisters-in-law Bobbye Brinkley and Betty Brinkley, along with many nieces and nephews that she adored.
She is predeceased by her husband Louis L. Anderson Jr. and son Louis L. (Andy) Anderson III, brothers Dr. Roy Brinkley and Charles Brinkley, sisters Peggy Holman and Carolyn Brinkley.
Visitation will be held at Leak Memory Chapel on Saturday, April 29, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., with a graveside service immediately following in Greenwood Cemetery.
