MATHEWS - Thomas Clay Logan, Sr., 85 passed away on May 14, 2018, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Tom was preceded in death by his parents William Rankin Logan and Lillian Braswell Logan; first wife Catherine (Cappy) Kirsch Logan, and brother Edward Rankin Logan. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years this month, Diane Fleischman Logan; children, Thomas Clay Logan, Jr. (Dr. Jennifer), Dorothy Louise Hunter (Scott), William Edward Logan (Angie Thompson), Russell Jason Pippin; grandchildren Amanda Catherine Shaheen (Jacob), Elise Madeline Logan, and Nathan Alexander Pippin. Sister Dorothy Lee Logan Poe( William Lee), Brothers-in-Law, William Curtis Kirsch (Sue Engelbert) and Edward Herbert Kirsch (Emily Staub); Sisters-in-law, Mary Joe Corder Logan, Fran Fleischman, Sherry Fleischman Russ (John). Also surviving are a host of loving nephews and nieces. Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at Eastmont Baptist Church followed by a Celebration of Life at 12:00 noon. Pastors Mike Northcutt and Art Long will officiate. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetary at 2:00 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Pat Kirsch, Steven Kirsch, Sam Thornton, Charlie Ford, Brian Ford, and Matt Jerles. Honarary pallbearers are John Gregory Russ, Eric Rugg.
Tom grew up in Birmingham, AL. Tom was a Korean War Army Veteran. He was a 1958 graduate of The Alabama Polytechnic Institute which was renamed Auburn University. He had nineteen years in administration at St. Margaret's Hospital, was the Administrator of Father Purcell's Children's Center and retired as the Director of The City of St. Jude in Montgomery.
Should friends desire, a memorial contribution may be made in Tom's memory to the Missions Program at Eastmont Baptist Church, a charity dear to Tom's heart.
The family wishes to thank Angie, LaDonna and Deborah of Baptist Hospice of Montgomery for their loving and gentle care of Tom.
