Sara Thompson Ellis, 81 of Montgomery, Alabama passed away on Thursday, November 15, 2018. She was born July 22, 1937 to the late Mr. William Foster Thompson and Mrs. Bertha Tillery Thompson. Sara was a member of Woodland United Methodist Church, Pike Road Civic Club, and the Bay Belles of Lillian, Alabama. She retired after 33 years of service from the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce and enjoyed retirement by gardening and spending quality time with her family.
Sara is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Carlton Edward Ellis. She is survived by her children, Rhonda D. Tatum (Foy), Wade Ellis (Kim), and Cris Ellis; her grandchildren, Jeremy Dickinson (Stacy), Taylor Ellis, Parker Ellis (Brittany), Cody Ellis (Karli), Clint Ellis (Catherine), Christy Jones (Josh), and Jayme Teague (Clay); and her great grandchildren, Matthew, Luke, Railee, Parker Kate, Ellie, Olivia, William, Chayman, and Scarlett; her brothers, Billy Thompson (Linda) and John Thompson (Sandra); and her sisters-in-law, Patricia Lott and Helen Boyd.
Visitation will be held Monday, November 19, 2018 from 10:00 to 11:00 am at Woodland United Methodist Church. Celebration of Life Service will immediately follow the visitation with Tim Meadows officiating. Burial will take place at Magnolia Cemetery in Greenville, Alabama at 2:00 pm.
The family would like to especially thank the staff of Amedisys Hospice and her caregivers, Connie, Shelia, LaBrenda, Voncille, Rosie, and Fannie for their loving care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in Mrs. Sara’s memory to Children’s Hospital of Alabama.
