Richard Marlon Jordan, 84, of Montgomery passed away on June 17, 2023. He was born in Elmore County and raised in Montgomery. Richard graduated from Lee High School in 1958. He attended the University of Alabama Business School and also The University of Alabama School of Law. During his four-year ROTC program at the University, Richard was recognized as one of the 25 distinguished military students and earned a commission as a second lieutenant in the Army. In1964 Richard graduated from the University of Alabama School of Law where he earned his Juris Doctorate and was President of his law school student body. Following law school, Richard returned to Montgomery where he gained recognition as an energetic and determined attorney during his 60-year career in the legal profession.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Lee Edmonds Jordan; son, Shane Derrick Jordan (Kim Hager Jordan); daughter, Shannon Jordan Abbott; grandchildren, Benjamin Thomas Jordan (Ben), Luke Still Jordan, Reed Matthew Abbott and Elizabeth Hardy Abbott (Libby); brother-in-law, Lawrence Edward Edmonds of Los Angeles: brother, Robert Dewey Jordan of Foley (Peggy); and nieces and nephews; James Fearle Jordan (Allison), Charla Jordan Baumgardner (Earl), Robert Jason Jordan (Amy), Stacey Lynn Jordan, and Josh Doran Jordan.
Funeral services will be Friday, June 23, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Leak Memory Chapel. A private family burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm.
