Millie was born in Coy, AL, August 14, 1937, to William Alford and Annie Mariva Primm. She graduated from Camden High School in 1955. She moved to Montgomery and graduated from Massey Draughton Business College in 1957, and began her 65-year career as a legal secretary. Millie married Ted in 1959, and in 1967, Ted entered the practice of law and acquired Millie’s professional expertise. They returned to Ted’s home county of Lowndes in 1973 where he began practicing law and Millie managed the law office. When Ted became Lowndes County District Judge in 1977, Millie continued to work for her longtime neighbor and friend, the late Jerry Thornton. In 1992, her son Randy returned to Hayneville to open his own private practice under her watchful eye, and Ted joined them in 1997 after his retirement from the bench. Millie was a devoted wife, mother, and friend. Her greatest joy was serving and supporting her family. Millie knew everyone in the community and even while on hospice, she continued to work at the law firm until she became homebound in February of this year.
Millie served as a preschool Sunday School teacher for over 30 years at Hayneville Baptist Church. She loved attending church throughout her life and served faithfully in many capacities. Even in the end, when her earthly body was deteriorating, Millie’s faith remained steadfast and helped sustain her through the most difficult of days. Ted passed only two months before Millie was diagnosed with terminal cancer in 2021. A private committal service will be held for the family at Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo. At Millie’s request, the family will have a joint service to honor both of their memories. A public memorial service to celebrate the lives of both Millie and Ted Bozeman will be held on July 30, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Hayneville Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Ted & Millie Bozeman Missionary Sending Fund via the Montgomery Baptist Association, 20 Interstate Park Drive, Montgomery, AL 36109, https://mgmbaptists.org/giving/. These funds will continue to assist with scholarships for young leaders to attend mission trips on the national and international mission fields. Donations may also be made to Hayneville Baptist Church, P.O. Box 367, Hayneville, AL 36040, or Imago Dei Church at the 45, P.O. Box 54, Lowndesboro, AL 36752.
