Mark Lewis Grable Jr. died on July 29, 2021 after a long battle with prostate cancer.
A native of Montgomery, Mark graduated from Sidney Lanier High School in 1957. He attended Auburn University and studied Engineering. His career included work at the Cape Kennedy Space Center, Stone and Webster in Boston, MA and Bechtel Engineering in Gaithersburg, MD. Mark was interested in technology before most people had a personal computer. He loved building and fixing things. He loved to read, enjoyed country music, and could even strum a few tunes.
Mark is preceded in death by his parents Mark L. Grable Sr, and Letha L. Grable of Montgomery, and his first wife Madge Grable and son Mark R. Grable, of Middletown, MD and Reno, NV.
He is survived by his current wife Judith Paterson and his two sisters, Shirley Grable and Carol Pierce (Bart), of Montgomery and Santa Fe, NM, and his daughter Laurin Kidwell (Wayne), of Williamsport, MD. He is also survived by his five grandchildren Theresa Kidwell, Steven Kidwell, Erin Grable, Kasey Grable and Emily Grable.
Mark was cared for by an incredible team of caregivers at the end of his life, special to him were Vanessa Tymes and Geraldine Smith.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate Mark’s life on Monday, August 2 at 10am at Grace Episcopal Church 906 Pike Road, Pike Road, Alabama.
