JACKSON, Lavonia Burns left us November 17, 2015 to be with Jesus. She died peacefully at her home in Montgomery, AL. We are sad she is gone but rejoicing in her complete healing, claiming God's promise. She served faithfully as a military wife. Our mom was a true homemaker, making most of our clothes and she was known among family and friends as a good cook, making some of the best yeast rolls. She was a woman of strong faith who loved time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Faith Sunday School class at Heritage Baptist Church; where she shared many good times with these precious ladies. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Paul Brantley Burns and her husband of 2 years, Paul Andrew Jackson. She is survived by her son, Walter Brantley Burns (Gwen), and daughter, Sandra Burns Gandy (Bob), her sister, Billie Reeves, and her brother, Byron Wilkerson. She has three grandchildren, Alisa Ratcliff (Dan), Bryan Gandy (Christy), and Stephen Gandy (Shannon). She loved nothing better than having pizza with her great-grandchildren: Andrew, Jonathan, and Rebecca Ratcliff; Emma, Brantley, and Perri Gandy, and Jessica Moulas. They wrote tributes to "Gran Gran": "She will be going to eternal paradise with God and live her life pain free, worry free, and where there is no sadness or regret. As each second goes by, you are getting closer to receiving your wings and flying away with Jesus". Graveside services will be held at Greenwood Cemetery on Friday, November 20, 2015 at 2:00PM. Family asks that everyone attending dress in casual wear. Lee Wright will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Gentiva Hospice or Horizon's special needs class at Heritage Baptist Church.
