Joseph Leonard Shannon

He started his Retailing career in Brookville, PA with G. C. Murphy Company. He worked many years with them, advancing to the position of Regional Sales Manager for the Southern Region. Later, he went to work for Wal-Mart and finished his career as a store manager in Montgomery, AL. which is where they settled into retirement.

He and his wife, Martha, have shared 67 years of marriage. They have 2 sons, Leonard F. Shannon and his wife Cathy of Pike Road, AL; Joseph P. Shannon of Chicago; and daughter, Cindy Bonfanti and husband Lewis of Baton Rouge, LA. There are four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one surviving sister Barbara A. Carrier of Kittanning, PA to complete the immediate family. To numerous to list here all the first cousins and their relations which are near, dear, and loved.

Joe loved to play bridge and was a member of the Montgomery Bridge Club where he enjoyed making new friends and playing regularly. Everyone who knew him knows what a storyteller he was.

His funeral will be private, and his cremains will be buried later in the family plot in Brookville, PA.
