John Rogers Smith Sr.

John Rogers Smith Sr., age 81, of Letohatchee, Alabama passed away on Monday, December 6, 2021. John was born November 29, 1940 in Greenville, Alabama to Rogers and Mildred Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elizabeth Smith; and his sister, Laura "Bara" Willis.

John is survived by one daughter, Melody (Greg) Singleton, one son, Johnny Smith and one grandson, Brady Taylor. A former volunteer firefighter and member of Bethel Baptist Church, he was active in his community and always willing to lend a hand.

A visitation for Mr. Smith will be held Saturday, December 11, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Bethel Baptist Church, 15 Church Street, Fort Deposit, Alabama 36032, followed by a church service at 2:00 PM. Services will conclude with a burial at Myrtlewood Cemetery in Fort Deposit. Steve Foster will be officiating all services.

Pallbearers will be Arthur Willis, Eric Ellis, Phillip Adams, Lee Vickery, Gerald Sexton and Bob Hood , and honorary pallbearers will be George Kelley, Jim Wheeler, Jack Jones, Charles Rawlinson and Jay Rawlinson. The family is extremely grateful for the compassion shown by his caregivers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Michael J.
