A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 19th at Leak-Memory Chapel from 5:00-7:00 pm with memorial services on Friday, March 20th at Leak-Memory Chapel at 11:00 am.
John is survived by his sons, J. Wade Hope (Glenda), Tom Hope, Jimmy Hope (Pam), Steve Hope (Irene), and Mark Hope (Beth) along with 11 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and step-great grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews. His six grandsons will be the pallbearers. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bunk and Icie Belle Hope, sister Lillian, and brothers Chapman, Revis, Douglas, and William R.
John was the founder and owner of United Surgical Steel, Inc. which had many employees, business associates, and customers he befriended and worked with over the years. He was a long-time member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church where he enjoyed all of his friends in his Sunday School class. He was an avid sports fan who had a long history of supporting athletics in the community. He was a member of the Blue & Gray Fastpitch Softball Hall of Fame and also a co-founder/sponsor of the Southeast Intercollegiate Golf Tournament for numerous years. Over the years, he supported various college athletic programs, such as, the University of Alabama, Auburn University, and Huntington College. He enjoyed golfing with family and friends, and loved Alabama Crimson Tide football. His charisma and generosity will be missed.
