Jerry Eugene Kyle

Jerry, was born to Dewey and Ellen Kyle in Cordova Alabama on June 9, 1936. He went to be with God on December 28, 2013. He is survived by his devoted wife, Jean; children Jeffrey Kyle (Beth), Janice Schofield (Isaac), Joyce Fields (Mark) and Veronica Meigh (Charles); grandchildren, Alyssa Kyle, Jaime Dickinson (Neal) Krissy Kline (Aaron), Brandi Roy (Aaron), Kristina Qualls, Amanda Arthur (Aaron), Amy Gould (Scott), Dahlia Robertson, and Zinnia Robertson; and great-grandchildren Chloe, Daniel, Evan, Farralyn, Hanna, Kinzlee and Jorja. Jerry loved his family, and it was a joy to be in his presence.

Jerry graduated from Pascagoula (MS) High School and a earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from Mississippi College. He completed one year of Graduate School at Tulane University before proudly serving his country in the U.S. Army from October 1959 to February 1962. Jerry then returned to Tulane University to obtain a Master’s Degree in Social Work.

Jerry’s love of Social Work services began when he worked at the Child Welfare Department in Jackson County Mississippi. As a veteran, Jerry understood the importance of taking care of the men and women who have served in the military. He began his career with the Veteran’s Administration Medical Center (VAMC) in 1966 as a Social Worker in Tuscaloosa, AL. Jerry continued his career in social work with VAMC when he transferred to Leavenworth, Kansas in 1976. The family returned to Alabama in 1979 when Jerry accepted a position as the Chief of Social Work Services for the VAMC in Montgomery. Jerry also attended classes at Auburn University at Montgomery, where he was awarded a Master’s Degree in Public Administration in 1987. After a long and successful career, Jerry retired from the VAMC in 1994.

After a very short “retirement,” Jerry began a career in Real Estate. In addition being a licensed real estate agent, Jerry went on to obtain his Associate Broker license as well as a license to teach Real Estate courses.

Anyone who knew Jerry knew that he enjoyed tending to his many flowers, but most of all, he loved his “prize winning” roses. He would stay outside all day and piddle in his many gardens and watch the birds and squirrels. He never tired of the beauty of nature. Jerry and Jean spent many years traveling and socializing with treasured friends in the Preceptor Delta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi and the Scattered Seeds Garden Club. He was an awesome man who is so missed by his family and friends.
