James “Buddy” Hartwell Sharpe Sr., a longtime resident of Montgomery Alabama, died peacefully in his home of 63 years on September 15, 2020. He was 89 years old. His parents, George and Lena Sharpe, and his sister, Delaine Hoyle, precede him in death. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Clara T Sharpe; his son, James “Jimmy” Hartwell Sharpe Jr.; his grandchildren, Casey Leigh Eason (Jason), James “Jamie” Hartwell Sharpe III (Alexandria), and great-grandchildren, Taylor Ann Eason and Jaden Alan Eason.
James was born and raised in Tallassee, Alabama. He was a proud member of the United States Marine Corps. James owned Sharpe’s Carburetor Service from 1960 to 1992 in Montgomery, Alabama. He was a member of Eastern Hills Baptist Church. He and his wife, Clara, enjoyed many years of traveling in their motor homes and camping with their friends in the Good Sam Camping Club. James was also a talented musician, dog lover, and car enthusiast. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at White Chapel- Greenwood Funeral Home in Montgomery, Alabama on Sunday, September 20th. Visitation will be held at 1:00pm with the service beginning at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Montgomery Cancer Center in his honor.
