KEELER, James E., 88, of Montgomery, AL, departed on Wednesday, August 20, 2014. He was preceded in death by his wife Eloise Keeler, his parents Vincent James Keeler and Della Mae Keeler, and his sister Jeannie Barrett.
He is survived by two sons, Don (Nancy) Keeler and Lee (Debbie) Keeler; grandchildren Leanne Keithahn, Stacy Ward, James Keeler and Renee Peters; eleven great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren. James was a wildlife biologist for the State of Alabama for thirty one years.
He loved all wildlife and flowers. He had a greenhouse where he grew orchids and cactus. He was president of the Southeast Dove Committee. He donated his butterfly collection to the University of Florida and his snake collection to Auburn University. James and Eloise also loved traveling all over North and Central America. He co-authored the book of Alabama Birds.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 23, 2014 with his grandson, Pastor James Keeler officiating. Burial will follow in Alabama Heritage Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Friday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
