James was born to Hoke and Evelyn Harrell in Birmingham, Alabama. He attended the University of Alabama and graduated with the class of 1964 with a BS in Business. He then moved to the Montgomery area from Mobile in 1998. He was a member of Vaughn Park Church and Lion’s Club.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Kathy.
He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Bonnie; his sons, Ed and David Harrell; his bonus sons, Brooks and Mark Taylor; his bonus daughter, Angela Taylor Forrester; his grandchildren, Dexter, Libby, Sandy, Joey, Emme, Wyatt, and AJ; his great-grandchild, Brandon; and his sister, Judy Wyatt.
