Gail Summerlin Clements, age 77, died on July 8, 2021, in Montgomery, Alabama. Gail was born November 9, 1943, to Mr. & Mrs. Robert Lauris Summerlin (Genie). She graduated from Fairhope High school in 1962 and from Auburn University in 1966, where she was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.
Gail was a teacher at Jefferson Davis High School for several years, where she was passionate about science and mathematics. After retirement from teaching, she dove headfirst into her true passion, raising her three children. Gail’s house was the hub of the neighborhood on account of the candy jars, her incredible cooking, quick smile, and welcoming spirit.
She was a dedicated member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, where she found her place calling the room to order, allowing the teacher to begin the Sunday School lesson. She had several passions including, tennis, antiquarian society, book club, sewing, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren. In addition, Gail served various positions within the Junior League of Montgomery, President of the Parent Teachers Organization at Trinity Presbyterian School, and was a docent at the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts.
She is survived by her husband of over 55 years, George B. Clements; her children, Lane McLean (Stanton) of London, England, Bill Clements (Renee) of Birmingham, Alabama, and Summer Anderson (Clyde) of Charleston, South Carolina; ten grandchildren, Myles, Tilly, Oliver, Bea, Claire, Christian, Ali, Olivia, William, and George; her siblings, Lanie Chapman (Charles) of Dothan, AL, Bob Summerlin (Alice) of Anniston, AL, and Ken Summerlin (Julia) of Fairhope, AL.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at Trinity Presbyterian Church at 4 pm. A visitation will be held before the service at 2:30 pm.
The burial will be held for the family at a later date.
