Frances Elouise Lucas Cycmanick passed away unexpectedly at home on Friday, June 7, 2019. Fran was born on July 16, 1951, in Montgomery. She was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School, where she was a member of the Robert E. Lee Marching Band. Fran attended Judson College, Troy State University where she was a proud member of the Troy University Sound of the South Band and Auburn University at Montgomery.
After college, Fran had a long career in the legal profession, working for the Capell Howard law firm and later with the State of Alabama court system. Her true passion however was the love she had for her friends, family, and Auburn Tigers. Fran was known for her kind heart and her genuine sense of hospitality. She was a mother and sister to many people throughout her life. She took great pride in her home being a gathering place for her friends and family. Fran was always one to reach out and keep in contact with her “family” as was most evident when she served on the organizing committee for the Lee Class of 1969’s 50th Class Reunion, a task which brought her much joy.
Fran is survived by her son, Daniel Scott Cycmanick (Revel); brother, Dan (Carol) Lucas; nephew Rob (Angel) Lucas; “children” Stefan Manzari, Bryan Grucza, Richard Conely, Jonathon Nolte, Derval Hutchinson, Charles Boyer, and Kara-Sha Jones. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Patrick Cycmanick and her parents, Dan Taft and Mary Frances Lucas. Other survivors include cousins, Joy Jeannine Svenson, Sydna Ferguson, Sue Ellen Mosley, and Bill Lucas.
A Celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at Messiah Lutheran Church, at 11:00am with the Rev. Jones officiating. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be the “Lee Girls of the Class of 1969”.
The family requests that memorials be made to Children’s Hospital of Alabama.
