Elizabeth Ammons

Ammons, Elizabeth Anne Harris, 48, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, February 23, 2013 in a local hospital. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 28, 2013 from First Baptist Church at 305 South Perry Street in Montgomery, AL, followed immediately by a memorial service in main sanctuary. Beth was born on September 18, 1964 in Birmingham, AL. She was a graduate Jefferson Davis High School in Montgomery, AL and earned her Bachelor’s degree at Auburn University where she was a member of the Concert Choir. She received a Master’s degree from the University of Alabama in Birmingham and spent a semester at the University of Tennessee where she received intensive training with the hearing impaired. Beth’s professional career included counseling positions with Montgomery Mental Health and Bradford’s Addiction Program, as well as teaching high school at Success Unlimited Academy. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Montgomery most of her life and served the church in a wide variety of volunteer capacities over the years. She was also passionately involved with addiction and recovery here in Montgomery. Beth was a caring and loyal person of strong faith. She will be most remembered for her unique humor and quick wit. Beth blessed many people with her compassion and graciously shared the gift of her life through organ donation. Having been preceded in death by her parents Dr. Kenneth Harris and Norma Sizemore Harris, Beth is survived by her husband of 24 years, Joseph Scott Ammons and her daughter, Abigail Anne Ammons of Pike Road, AL; two sisters, Shelley Harris Babington (William) of Montgomery; and Mandy Harris Nall (Edward) of Auburn, AL; her mother and father-in-law, Sue and Roger Ammons of Hartselle, AL; a sister-in-law, Karen Ammons Reeves (Ronnie) of Hartselle, AL; nieces Murray McConnell Babington and Marilee Macaulay Babington of Montgomery, AL; nephews Kenneth Grant Nall of Tuscaloosa, AL, Edward Garrett Nall and Ellis Grayson Nall of Auburn, AL, Austin Cameron Reeves and Andrew Tyler Reeves of Hartselle, AL and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made for Youth Camp or Youth Choir Tour scholarships to the First Baptist Church of Montgomery.
