Donald Roy Pennington

Donald Roy Pennington, age 87, of Montgomery, Alabama passed away on Monday, February 21, 2022. Donald was born July 14, 1934 in Brooklyn, New York to Homer and Willie Mae Pennington. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Betty Kilgore. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Peggy Pennington, sons, Donnie Pennington and Art (Donna) Pennington, brother, Ronald (Joan) Pennington, grandchildren, Joy (Will) Binkley and Jason (Shauna Williamson) Pennington and great-grandchild, Seth Tipton. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was born in Brooklyn, NY, and raised mostly in New York City with a brief wartime stint in the family’s rural Dime, AL, roots. He retired from Maxwell AFB with 39 years in Civil Service Telecommunications at both Maxwell and Gunter. A charter member of Vaughn Park Church of Christ, he served the congregation for many years counting the collection and getting it deposited. Earlier, he served Lakewood Church of Christ as an Elder. He was an avid golfer and played regularly at several different Montgomery area courses over the years.

A graveside service for Mr. Pennington will be held Friday, February 25, 2022 at 3:00 PM at Greenwood Serenity Memorial Gardens, 909 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, Alabama 36109.
