Donald Gregg Guthrie Sr., age 88, of Montgomery, Alabama went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 15, 2020. Donald was born March 28, 1932 in Montgomery, Alabama to Ann Jane Walker Guthrie and Joe Guthrie.
Donald is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Gwen Guthrie; his sons Gregg Guthrie (Jann) and Bill Guthrie (Michele); as well as Steve Peavy who was like a son; grandchildren Ryne Guthrie, Kalyn Pinkerton (Trevor), Kelsey Bowles (Taylor), Kendall Guthrie and Karah Guthrie.
Donald was preceded in death by father Joe Guthrie and mother Ann Jane Walker Guthrie; three brothers and a sister.
Mr. Guthrie graduated from Lanier High School in Montgomery and served a tour of duty in the Navy. He worked with Montgomery Water Works for over 20 years before retiring. Donald enjoyed fishing, golfing and Alabama football but he delighted in his grandchildren. A faithful member of Dalraida Baptist Church, he served as a deacon for many years.
A visitation for Donald will be held Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at 10:00 AM at Leak Memory Chapel. Following the visitation will be a celebration of life graveside service at 11:00 AM at Greenwood Serenity Memorial Gardens.
Serving as pallbearers are Trevor Pinkerton, Taylor Bowles, Bob Kimbro, Rick Nix, Shane Spiers and Ryne Guthrie.
