Charles Wayne Merritt, 74, of Montgomery, passed away on October 29, 2018. He was born on July 26, 1944 in McKenzie, Alabama. Wayne was a beloved husband, father and friend who served his family and workplace with abounding kindness and humor. He was a longtime manager at Gayfers, Dillard’s and TJ Maxx. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hamilton Jordan Merritt and Mamie Ruth Edge; his sister, Margie Cook; and his brother, Billy Merritt.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 46 years, Pamela Smith Merritt; children, Cecile Rice (Jeff), Tiffany Turner (Matt), and Charles Merritt, Jr. (Kerry); 8 grandchildren, Jacob, Kendall, Matthew and Taylor Rice; Mackenzie, Avery, Aaron and Garrett Turner; and brother, Wesley Merritt.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Whitfield Memorial Methodist Church on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 2 PM with a visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
