He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil Monroe Brendle and Lillian Pitts Duke, and wife of 37 years, Mae Jones Brendle.
Cecil is survived by his daughter, Bonnie Brendle Johnson (Gary); grandson, Zack Johnson; sister, Judy Dabney and brother, James Duke.
Col. Brendle was the vice commander of the 187th Cam Squadron of the Alabama Air National Guard and the past president of the Montgomery Chapter of the March of Dimes. He served with the Alabama Air Force Association and the National Air Force Association in Washington, D.C.
A visitation will be held on Friday, September 21, 2018, from 10:30am to 11:00am at Leak Memory Chapel with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 11:00am. A private family burial will take place after the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, Ohio 45250.
The family would like to send special thanks to James Lisenby, Mollie Sue Wallace, Evelyn Watts and Fran Pugh for their loving support.
