Carolyn Wood Brown

It is with great sorrow that the family of Carolyn Wood Brown announces her passing on October 30, 2018. She was born January 6, 1937, and was preceded in death by her parents, Evelyn and Perry Wood; her sister, Jean McWhorter (Dale); and her husband of 59 years, Dr. Richard Evans Brown Sr.

Carolyn graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1955, and attended the University of Alabama, where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority. Married in 1957, she was a devoted wife and loving mother to three boys. Carolyn loved the beach and spending time with her family.

She was an active member of the St. James United Methodist Church and the Stanley Frazer Sunday School Class. She was a longtime member of the Wisteria Garden Club.

Survivors include her three sons, Richard E. “Rick” Brown Jr. (Michele), Randal W. Brown Sr. (Carol), Rodney C. Brown (Deanie); five grandchildren – Evans Brown, Bailey Brown, Randal Brown Jr., Taylor Brown and Elizabeth Anne Brown; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. James United Methodist Church Building Fund, 9045 Vaughn Road, Pike Road, Alabama 36064.

Visitation will be Friday, November 2, 2018 from 9:00 to 10:00 am at St. James United Methodist Church. Celebration of Life Service will begin at 10:00 am with burial at Alabama Heritage Cemetery.
