Daddy made good use of his dash, the time between his birth, August 27, 1931 and his death, July 1, 2024.
He was born in Hartford, Alabama and grew up on a farm where he learned the value of hard work. He served his country, serving in the Army as a paratrooper and medic. During this time he would travel back to Fort Campbell where he was stationed. On one of these visits he met a lovely young lady and he gave her his seat on the bus. This young lady was in nursing school and he fell in love and asked her to be his bride.
Daddy knew the meaning of service because he worked diligently, plumbing, cooking chicken dinners, as well as help build Westside Assembly of God. He also served as a deacon on the church board and he was a faithful member of Evangel Church Assembly of God for many years.
Most of all, he was our Daddy and he made sure that our needs were met and most all of our wants. He was a plumber by trade and in the summer he would take one of us girls to work with him. He would take us fishing or swimming in Lake Jordan and he took us on many trips to the mountains and to the beach. He was always there to fix my skates and help us with whatever his girls needed. He took care of us in the most special way when he gave me to Wally and Beth to Jerry. As our Dad, he wanted to ensure that his girls would be taken care of.
Survivors include his two girls, Dona (Wally) Prophitt and Beth (Jerry) Pounds, 5 grandchildren, Kaci (Josh) Sayers, Chad Prophitt, Hannah (Chris) Saylor, Lee (Katie) Pounds, Lindy (Matt) House, 10 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
We encourage you to celebrate with us because our Daddy is home. He has completed his journey and he is in the presence of his Lord and Savior, and other family and friends who have gone on before.
Please join us in a celebration of a life well loved, well lived, and a journey that is complete . . . Heaven.
A visitation for Carlos will be held Friday, July 5, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Leak Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, AL 36109, followed by a celebration of life beginning at 11:00 AM.
