Bradley Lamar Sanders, Lt Col (ret), age 79, a resident of Montgomery, AL passed away on January 15, 2021 after battling pneumonia. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 19th at 1:00 pm in the chapel at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home in Montgomery followed by a graveside service at 2:00 p.m. in Alabama Heritage Cemetery.
Brad was preceded in death by his parents Charlie Ross Jr. and Ouida Bradley Sanders and a grandson Joshua Davis. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Betty Hammann Sanders; his four children Angela Kynard (Chris), Alan Sanders (Paige), Andrew Sanders and Adam Sanders (Mary); his 18 grandchildren Michael Davis (Kadi), Casssie Davis, Braden Teague, Christopher Kynard, MaryAshley Hayes (Corey), Aaron Sanders, Griffin Sanders, Hilton Cawthon, Miller Cawthon, Katy Cawthon, Lucy Cawthon, Maylon Sanders, Hayden Sanders, Patton Sanders, Austin Dusek, Charlie Ross Sanders III, Mary Townsend Sanders and Drew Sanders; four great grandchildren Balin Davis, Dawson Davis, Willa Hersey and Wilder Hersey; and siblings Wayne Sanders (Barbara) and Charlene Brown (Bob).
Mr. Sanders was a long-time member of Eastern Hills Baptist Church. He served on the Board of Directors for Max Federal Credit Union after completing more than a three-decade career in The National Credit Union Administration. He completed over 22 years of service to our country in the United States Air Force and Alabama Air National Guard. Mr. Sanders flew 204 combat missions during the Vietnam War as a B-52 navigator earning a Distinguished Flying Cross as well as an Air Medal with 9 Oak Leaf Clusters. He completed his military career with the 187th Fighter Wing in Montgomery flying in the F-4 Phantom as a Weapons Systems Officer. Mr. Sanders attended Murphy High School in Mobile. He then studied undergraduate work at Auburn and Northern Michigan Universities followed by completion of an MBA at Louisiana Tech. While at Auburn, he was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity.
