Betty Ransom Anderson, 85, of Montgomery, AL, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, September 13th. Visitation will be 1:00 – 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church, Stakely Hall immediately preceding the funeral. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 19th, at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church Montgomery, 205 S. Perry Street, with the Reverend Jay Wolf officiating. Interment will be a Pineview Memorial Gardens at Wetumpka, AL. Betty is preceded in death by her husband Robert T. Anderson, her daughter, Betsy Anderson Beaird, her parents, Maggie and William Ransom; her brother, Fred Ransom, and her sister Mary Ransom.
Betty is survived by one son, the Rev. Tom Anderson; one daughter-in-law, Suzanne Anderson; three grandchildren, Rebecca Anderson, Kaelen Anderson and Lianna Anderson all of Singapore; one niece, Joann Ledbetter and several grand nieces and nephews; her sister-in-law, Emma Aitken of Chelsea, AL; two nephews, Wade Aitken of Columbiana, AL, and Frank Aitken of Odenville, AL; and a son-in-law, A. H. (Skip) Beaird of Birmingham.
Betty was born and raised at Tallassee, AL. She received degrees from Troy State University, Peabody College, and completed additional studies at the University of Alabama. She served as an elementary school teacher at Skyland Elementary School, was the Director of the FOCUS Senior Center in Tuscaloosa, AL, and for 10 years was Volunteer in Missions Co-Coordinator with her husband Bob Anderson, for the Alabama State Board of Missions. She was the manager of the family Christian gift store, Gifts of Joy, in Tuscaloosa, AL. She was a faithful member of her church choir and served in many volunteer roles, such as VBS, ESOL , and at the Caring Center. She loved to entertain and was an exceptional hostess.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to Child Protect of Montgomery, at Child Protect, 935 South Perry Street, Montgomery, AL 36104.
