Barbara Ann Blackmon

Barbara Ann Blackmon, age 87, of Montgomery, Alabama passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2023. Born in Rockford, Alabama to Richard and Erlene McCain, she grew up in Montgomery, Alabama. A member of Yarbrough Street Baptist Church, she worked for 20+ years at Sears & Roebuck until her retirement. She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Erlene McCain and five siblings.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 70 years, Cecil Ray Blackmon, Sr.; her sons, Cecil Blackmon Jr. (Becky) and Alan Blackmon (Rose); her daughter, Brenda Peterson (Grey) and just like a daughter, Vickie Wilson (Louie); her 8 grandchildren, Chris Blackmon (Ana Maria), Matt Blackmon (Kayla), Stephanie Blackmon Morgan, Conner Peterson (Melissa), Bailey Peterson, Heather Magiera (Gregg), Alisarose Blackmon, and Brittaney Andres (Jason); her 11 great-grandchildren, Parker Blackmon, Pierson Morgan, Chandi and Stephen Pelcha, McKinley Andres, Davis and Dylan Andres, Hudson and Aiden Blackmon, Heidi June Blackmon and Mason Blackmon; and her siblings, Steve McCain, Paulette Beasley, and Myra Hatfield.

Known as "Bobbie" by her family and friends, "Mama" by her children, and "Nanny" by her grandchildren, Barbara loved the lake, loved her family, loved her church, loved to read and loved her husband, Cecil, with all her heart and soul. She was always laughing and making other people laugh. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

A Family and Friends Visitation for Barbara will be held Wednesday, October 25, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Leak Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Rd, Montgomery, Alabama 36109. Following the visitation there will be a Celebration of Life Chapel Service at 11:00 AM. Services will conclude with a burial in Greenwood Cemetery.
