Allene Drew Marshall ran into the arms of Jesus on June 14, 2022. She will be dearly missed by those of us who are privileged to call her mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She was born in Quincy, Florida to Mitchell and Allene Drew. She married Warren Berry Marshall, Sr., in 1945, and they made Montgomery, Alabama their home. She is preceded in death by her parents and her two brothers, her husband of 65 years, Warren Marshall, and her son Everett Marshall. Mrs. Marshall is survived by her sons, Warren (Dale) Marshall, Mitchell (Linda) Marshall, William (Joyce) Marshall, John (Wendy) Marshall, her daughter Allene (Jack) Everett, her daughter-in-law Sandy Marshall, 18 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren. She will be remembered for her encouraging words both spoken and written in numerous cards and letters, her loving ways to anyone in her presence, her selflessness, and her steadfast testimony to her Christian faith. Mrs Marshall was a long time member of Dalraida Baptist Church and enjoyed many dear friendships there.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to her loyal caregivers Barbara Johnson, Nettie Washington, Gracie Alexander, Carolyn Cooke, and Michelle Langham for their tender care which made it possible for her to spend her last days in the manner she wished, in her house on the beautiful green hill where she raised her family and watched her grandchildren play.
A visitation for Mrs. Marshall will be held Saturday, June 25, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Dalraida Baptist Church, 3838 Wares Ferry Rd., Montgomery, AL 36109, followed by a Celebration of Life Church Service at 2:00 PM. Services will conclude with a family only graveside in Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Mrs. Marshall knitted hundreds of baby booties in support of First Choice Women's Medical Center. In her honor, the family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to First Choice Women's Medical Center, PO Box 241664, Montgomery, AL 36117. As she would say, "Life is a special occasion so Rejoice!"
