Vernon "Double Down Jack" Boyd

Vernon "Double Down Jack" Boyd, age 76, of Calera, Alabama passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2024. He was born March 20, 1948 to Frederick C. Boyd and Annie Ruth Boyd. He served in the US Air Force and graduated from the University of Alabama. He worked in telecommunications for TCI for many years. Following his retirement from TCI, he held various jobs in automotive restoration. His passions included antique hot rods, cowboy action shooting and his grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Fran Boyd; and his sons, Vernon "Lee" Boyd II and Brian Kristopher Boyd. He is survived by his daughter, Renee Decker (Shawn); grandchildren, Christian Lee Decker (Laini), Shawna Renee Decker, Marlee Ann Boyd and Tucker Franklin Boyd; step-grandchildren, Willow Grace Robertson and Beau Wyatt Robertson; great-grandchildren, Isaac Kristopher Washington and Violet Ruth Decker; and his many cowboy and hot rod friends.

A visitation for Double Down Jack will be held Friday, July 12, 2024 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Rockco Funeral Home (Montevallo), 3715 Highway 25, Montevallo, AL 35115 followed by a celebration of life from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM. A committal service will occur Friday, July 12, 2024 at 1:30 PM at Memory Hill Gardens, 2200 Skyland E Blvd, Tuscaloosa, AL 35405.
