Tony grew up in Ensley Highlands where he attended St. Anthony’s Catholic School and Ensley High School. After graduation, he joined the military and was a proud Veteran of the United States Navy where he was stationed aboard the USS Lexington in Pensacola, Florida at the Pensacola Naval Air Station.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Rosa Butera.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Victoria (Baldwin) Butera; his son, Andrew Butera; his daughter, Christina Newell (David); and his granddaughter, Brailey Butera. He is also survived by his 4 younger sisters, Teresa, Regina, Rosina Wolfe (Tom), and Cathy Sarris (Vincent), and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation for family and friends will be Tuesday, September 8th from 5-7 pm at Rockco Funeral Home in Montevallo and Graveside Interment for family only at the Alabama National Cemetery on Wednesday, September 9th at 9:30 am.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Judes Hospital.
Tony was the ultimate Alabama Football Fan, we know Bear Bryant met him in Heaven with a big Roll Tide!
