Michael Duane Shoemaker

Michael Duane Shoemaker, age 52, of Brierfield, Alabama passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2022. Michael was born December 30, 1969 in Council Bluffs, Iowa before his family moved to Alabama. He attended Montevallo High School. He was handyman of all sorts, and worked for Cahaba Pressure over the last 30 years where he was affectionately referred to as "Shoe". He enjoyed watching Westerns, WWE and Alabama football. "Big Mike" liked to be outside, whether camping, fishing or riding his four wheeler. But most of all, he preferred to be at home with his wife, eating butter beans and playing with his grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Thompson; step-father, Archie Thompson; brother, Robert Shoemaker; sister, Betty Shoemaker Fowler; and father-in-law, J. C. Hoggle. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Sherry Hoggle Shoemaker; children, Billy Hill (Katheryn), Cathy Hoggle (Jorge), Michelle Shoemaker, Michael "Little Mike" Shoemaker, Jr. (Jennifer) and Jesse Hoggle (Loren); grandchildren, Brayden Hill, Mason Shoemaker, Brooklyn Hill, Logan Davis, Mackanzie Davis, Emily Shoemaker, Brayson Hoggle, Hunter Shoemaker, Reighny Hill, Addailyn Hoggle and George Rojas; sister, Beth Davis; brother-in-law, James Hoggle; niece, Debra Davis; nephews, Jacob Fowler and Jack Fowler; favorite cousin, Mark Beede; and numerous other family members.

Services will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2020 at Rockco Funeral Home (Montevallo). His family viewing will be held from 5:00 until 5:30 PM. His funeral service will be held at 6:00 PM with visitation to follow until 8:00 PM. A graveside service will be at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at Six Mile Cemetery in Brierfield, Alabama.
