Kenneth Lafayette Reach, age 70, of Montevallo, Alabama passed away on Friday, January 22, 2021. Kenneth was born September 25, 1950 to Hewlett and Viola Reach in West Blocton, Alabama, where he was raised with 3 sisters, Carolyn, Janice, and Lannie, and 1 brother, W.H.
Kenneth Married Ida Marie Goggins in 1972. They had an ageless romance. After raising a daughter and spending 47 years together, Kenneth loved Marie more than the day they married. Together, they went on long bike trips with friends, most often to the mountains. He was her taxi as they shopped together, and her rock when she was sick. Kenneth spent his career as a coal minor with Jim Walter Resources #7 Mine. After retirement, he began his real job in 2004 as a "Papa" to his beautiful grandchildren. He was their chauffer, chaperone, confidant, and biggest fan. Kenneth also had a passion for Harley Davidson and classic cars; he won more than 12 trophies in car and motorcycle shows. He was a member of Amazing Grace Worship Center and proudly turned to the Lord to guide him in times of sorrow.
Kenneth will join in heaven his long missed wife of 47 years Marie Reach; parents, Hewlett and Viola Reach; brother, W.H. Reach (Nancy); and brother-in-law W.C. Creel.
Left behind to cherish his memory is his daughter Michelle Raney (Chris); grandchildren, Molly Bunn, Kenzie Bunn, Avery Raney, and John Wilson; grand-dog, Zoey; sisters, Carolyn Hubbard (Bill), Janice Woods (Doug), Lannie Stewart (Tony); very special niece, Regina Wade (Bryant); brother-in-law, James Goggins (Ann); as well as a plethora of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Kenneth was friendly with everyone in Montevallo. He was both well known and well loved. He had a big heart, a bright smile, and always had a joke tell. He will be fondly remembered by his family, church, and community.
A vistiation for Kenneth will be held Monday, January 25, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Rockco Funeral Home(Montevallo). A funeral service will occur Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at 2:00 PM, at Rockco Funeral Home (Montevallo) followed by a committal service at Ryan Cemetery, Hwy 17, Montevallo, Alabama.
