Rosemary Altamirano

Rosemary Altamirano was known as many things to many people. She was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew her best, Rosemary will be remembered as a very exceptional person.

Rosemary was the daughter of Carmen Altamirano and grew up in the San Gabriel Valley.

Fortunately, Rosemary enjoyed what she did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Rosemary worked diligently and did her best to succeed in her career. Her primary occupation was an assembler of lighting fixtures. She was employed for 25 years by the Feldman Company; but during World War II, she was a "Rosie the Riveter" which was amusing because she was such a little thing! Rosemary always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done.

Rosemary enjoyed her leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. Her favorite pursuits were photography and gardening. She was content to enjoy her favorite pastimes alone but was also willing to share her interests with others.

Throughout her life, Rosemary was a doer and was always actively involved in professional and community organizations. Throughout her later years, Rosemary was an active member of the Altar Society and Senior Citizen Program. Rosemary's faith was important to her and she was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church since 1948.

Rosemary enjoyed traveling and time away on vacations. It was a chance for her to renew and relax, to visit new places and experience new things. Favorite vacations included Europe, Mexico and Hawaii.

When Rosemary retired in 1986, she was well prepared. Her new life involved caring for her mother in Montebello, California. In retirement, she found new pleasure in Church activities. Even in retirement, Rosemary continued to stay in touch with her old friends while making plenty of new acquaintances. Rosemary was active in her new community and felt fulfilled with the opportunities retirement offered her.

Rosemary passed away on July 4, 2012 at in her home in Montebello after a brave fight against bone cancer and was proceeded in death by her brother, Antonio (Tony) in 1985; her mother, Carmen, in 1989; her brother, Joseph, in 1995' her sister-in-law, Anne, in 1997 and her nephew, Reinaldo also in 1997. She is survived by her niece, Carmen Wolf; nephew, Anthony L. Altamirano' great nephews and nieces Vincent J. Russo, Elizabeth Altamirano Anthony C. Russo, Michael D. Altamirano, Natalie (Jacob) Walters, Alex (Kelly) Altamirano, and Mathew (Kathy) Altamirano. and six great-grand nieces and nephews. Rosary Service will be held at St Benedict Catholic Church on Sunday, July 8th at 7:15 p.m. and the Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, July 9th at 9:00 a.m. Rosemary Altamirano will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery in Los Angeles.

Simply stated, Rosemary was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Rosemary Altamarino leaves behind her a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life she touched will always remember Rosemary.
