Mable Emily Irene Morningstar died on Monday, February 7, 2022. A small graveside service will be held at 9am on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at Turner & Stevens Live Oak Memorial Park in Monrovia, California.
Mable was born on May 2, 1938 in Phoebus, Virginia to Jonas and Hattie Pearl (Vaughan) Baggett. As a young adult, she met her future husband, Ray, through a pen pal program. Through the power of eloquently written letters and photographs, they fell in love, and after Ray moved to the United States from Canada, they married in Hollister, Missouri in 1960. As an Army spouse, they lived in Hollister, Missouri; Nebraska; Seaside, California, and eventually settled in Monrovia, California, where they spent the remainder of their years together.
She was an active life-long member of Calvary Grace Church and enjoyed sewing, embroidery, gardening, baking, playing Sudoku, and reading her Bible.
Mable is survived by her husband of 61 years, Raymond “Ray” Morningstar; brother, John Baggett; grandchildren Phoenix Hardin (Steffans), Amber Giltz, Angelica Ruvalcaba, Jasenia Ruvalcaba; and great-grandchildren, Rosemary Buckner, Sophia Giltz, Reid Hardin, and Aleah Ruvalcaba.
She was preceded in death by her parents, daughters Ruthie Anne Morningstar and Deborah Lynn Ruvalcaba, brothers Van Baggett and Eddie Baggett, and sister Barbara Beasley.
