June 23, 1927 – July 27, 2022
Louis Anthony Galasso was born at home in Los Angeles on June 23, 1927, to Lucille and Giovanni Galasso. He grew up in Lincoln Heights with his younger brother John. When he was just 8 years old, his father passed away, devastating the family. His mother subsequently married Amadeo Jacovetta, who, along with his 3 daughters, Judy, Dolores and Antoinette, made them a family of seven. They all grew up together in the house on top of the hill on Johnston St.
After graduating from Franklin High School, Lou was drafted into the army in the last draft of World War II. When he returned, he attended East LA College before embarking on his career at the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, which spanned 36 years. During that time he continued his education and also became an Insurance Broker.
Lou married Carol in 1954, and over the next 21 years they raised 4 children together: Annemarie, Louis, Gina and Lisa.
In 1984 Lou married Connie who had 5 children of her own: Sara, Genaro, Robert, Charlie and Michael. Coincidentally the eldest 4 were the same ages as Lou’s children.
After his retirement in 1987, Lou and Connie enjoyed many adventures in their motor home, touring the country, as well as a love hate relationship with California and Arizona. They toggled back and forth between the two for many years before finally settling down in CA about 6 years ago.
On July 27, 2022, Lou was ushered into Heaven at his home in Ojai, leaving behind his beloved wife Connie, their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
A Memorial/Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00 pm on Friday, August 26, 2022, at Pierce Brothers Turner & Stevens Mortuary, 1136 E Las Tunas Dr, San Gabriel, CA 91776, with reception immediately following.
