Scott was born August 23, 1959 in Brainerd MN, the youngest of 4 children born to Jerry and Delores (Malloy) Austin. He was raised in Washington state living in the Redmond / Kirkland area for many years before meeting his soul mate, Laura Legg. They married in 1990 and settled in Gold Bar, WA to raise their family.
Scott had the rare distinction of spending his entire working life at one job, working for King & Prince Seafood (originally known as Universal Seafoods) for 42 years as a Maintenance Technician / Refrigeration Specialist. He was affectionately known as Scooter to his work buddies and sometimes called Scoots by fun-loving nieces and nephews. Family was very important to him and he always had time for children and grandchildren whether they were his own or those of his brother and sisters.
Anything old was interesting to Scott and he enjoyed learning about old trains, clocks, tools and automobiles. He also had an artistic nature working with stained glass, glass blowing, collecting wildlife prints, making pencil drawings, and even designing a special piece of jewelry for their 20th wedding anniversary.
Scott was preceded in death by his father, Jerry in 1991, his step-father, Ken Hardwick in 1999, his mother, Delores in 2020 and his brother, Kim Austin in July of last year. His passing is mourned by his wife Laura, son Kyle Austin of Gold Bar and Kyle’s children, Torsten, Aksel, and Sydney. He will be especially missed by his sisters Bonnie Simpson of Sultan, WA and Tawny Collins in Naples, ID along with numerous nieces and nephews.
