Written by his wife Nellie
Ken was born on April 5, 1937 in Gardiner, OR. He died on January 8, 2013 in Snohomish, WA
Ken was a tall dark and handsome guy. He also had a quick wit, was funny, had a great personality and was a good listener. Ken and I, with my children, Alana and Jodie were married January 15th 1966. Ken adopted my girls about the 2nd year we were married. Shortly after we married, Ken and I opened our own print shop.
He was always concerned for family members and friends.
“Ken had a very large and giving heart.”
He and I would open our home for strays. Not the animal kind. They were James Rowell, Melissa Anderson, Isaac Elliott, and you all know the “Red Headed Step Child” Tony Parks. They have all wandered into our lives at one time or another. They have all become our extended family.
It was a complete surprise to all of us that he passed away so suddenly. But he did die at home, in a place that he loved, he died in bed with me, he just fell asleep and didn’t wake up.
Ken left behind his beloved wife Nellie, 5 living children, Kevin, Mervin, Steven, Alana and Jodie. Ken was preceded in death by his daughter Becky. Grandchildren: Josh, Chelsea, Lyle, Katie, Sarah, Jason, Nicholas, Tyler, Wyatt, Cori, Ryan, Grant, and Olivia. Great Grandchildren: Haylee, Anthony, Brooklyn, Lyndon, Lawson, Olivia, Easton and to be born yet, Ruby Ann Marie…his sisters, Joanne and Teri, and brother, Tim, his step sisters Connie, Gail and step brother Neil. He has a huge family that loved him and will miss him. He was very close to my sister, Chris, and my brothers, Tom and Mike. My family was his family. He had many, many friends.
The skies are dark and gray over the farm this morning and it seems appropriate as our hearts are heavy with sorrow. The fallow fields and bare branches echo the emptiness his passing has left in our lives. We hold on to the hope that comes with Spring and the knowing that he is safe with the Lord……..
A quote by W.H. Auden’s “Stop All The Clocks”, this captures how I feel about my one true love.
“He was my North, my South, my East and West, my working week and my Sunday rest, my noon, my midnight, my talk, my song.” I love you, my Sweet Man.
