William was born on April 14, 1943 in Robeson County, NC to William Martin McDaniel and Annie Belle Lovett McDaniel and grew up in the Lumberton area. He moved to Monroe in the 1960's where he worked in textile management and lawn maintenance.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing and a good plate of fried fish. He was preceded in death by his great-granddaughter, Ansley Horne; his sisters, Ruby Lewis and Margie Chandler and his brothers, Stanley and Robert McDaniel. He is survived by a sister, Betty Brooks (Bob) of Allequippa, PA.
He is also survived by his wife of 41 years, Linda Helms McDaniel; his children, Denise Springs (Phil), Terrie McDaniel (Dena), Andy McDaniel, Cindi Whitecotton (Jeff) and Jim Phillips (Kim); grandchildren, Monica George, Whitney Bolick (Cameron), Dani McDaniel, Alexis Stewart (Heath), Alex Springs, Tiffany McDaniel (Cody), Ashlyn Horne (Trent) and Noah Whitecotton. There are also 9 great-grandchildren.
An open visitation will be on Thursday, January 6, 2022 from 3:00pm until 7:00pm at McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe. The family will not be present. A graveside service will be Friday, January 7, 2022 at 11:00am at Austin Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The graveside service will be live streamed via McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe's Facebook page.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude Hospital or to Austin Grove Baptist Church. McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe is honored to serve the family of Mr. McDaniel.
