Born on November 12, 1948 in Rowan County, North Carolina, Rose lived the remainder of her life in Wilkes and Anson County. She was known to everyone as “Granny Rose”, and was very intentional in the way she loved people. She extended the love of Jesus in so many tangible ways to those who were a part of her life. Those ways were expressed in the form of cards, cakes, texts, cookies, a restful place to stay, and especially her hugs. Her other loves and enjoyments included cooking for her family, teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School at her church, visiting the Blue Ridge Mountains, planting flowers, and just spending quality time with her friends and family.
Rose is preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Jeanette Herring; and husband, Troy Whitley. She is survived by her sons, Keith Whitley (Jennifer) and Tony Whitley (Angel); grandchildren, Brooke and Josh Gomez, Landon Whitley, Kola Whitley, Nathan and Danielle Whitley, Elizabeth and Zach Stevens, and Kristen and Mark Streeter; great grandchildren, Kinley Gomez, Amelia Gomez, and Asa Gomez; and siblings, Stanley and Toni Herring, Gloria Riggsbee, Arnold and Brenda Herring, and Fannie Ross.
