John Silvanus Carter Jr., age 70, of Monroe, North Carolina went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 28, 2021. John was born in Union County on January 24, 1951, son of the late Lydia Marie Pressley and John Silvanus Carter Sr.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine Starnes Carter and brother, Larry Carter.
He is survived by his fiancé, Vicky Harvell; son, Chris Carter (Nicole); daughter, Crystal Flow (Paul); bonus daughter, Allyson Thomas (Greg); grandchildren, Jacy, Bryson, Caleb and Maddox; brothers, Steve Carter (Mary) and Kenny Carter (Angie); sister, Cathy Heverly (Scott).
John was a GM Master Technician for over 30 years and was a well known mechanic in the community. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, at the ballfield with his grandchildren and at car shows. He was also a member of the Sidewinders Car Club where he enjoyed driving his Red '88 Chevrolet Silverado.
The family will receive friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm Monday, November 1, 2021 at McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe. A service to celebrate Mr. Carter's life will be held at 2:00pm Tuesday, November 2, 2021 in McEwen Funeral Home's Colonial Chapel. Interment will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park.
