James Martin Bradley "Marty” Age, 67, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 5, 2024 @ 2:04pm at his home while surrounded by family and friends after a long battle with ongoing health issues. Marty was born July 21, 1956 in Monroe, NC to Annie Lee Hinson of Monroe, NC and the late James Clifton Bradley of Bloomberg, Germany and step-father, the late James Victor Hinson.
He attended New Salem Elementary and Piedmont Schools. He dropped out of high school at the age of 16 to provide for his family. It was at this time he realized he had a true compassion for being a mechanic and his love for farming. Marty was employed by the Union County School Bus Garage from 1972 - 2002. After suffering from serious heart issues, he began farming and provided mechanic work on farm machinery with Dolan Baucom from the age of 14, and the late Jack Baucom. He later started farming and provided farm maintenance for Randy Baucom until retiring in September 2021. When he became unable to work on the farm, he began doing woodwork to stay busy. He was a man of many talents and many people have had the pleasure of enjoying his labor of love, from swings, gliders, and swings. He was able to make and do anything he set his mind to.
Marty was a lifelong resident of Unionville, NC. He married the love of his life, Luanne Mullis Bradley, December 21,1974, and made their home in Unionville, NC. Marty was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to all he knew. He cherished time spent with his family. In addition to raising their children, he maintained his career as a mechanic and farmer. A light hearted man, he had a loving and gentle nature with a great sense of humor. He enjoyed farming, fishing, working on vehicles, woodworking and spent most of his time helping others.
Marty will be most remembered for his compassion and generosity for helping others in need.
In December, 2023, Marty had the pleasure of meeting his long lost half-sister, Daniella Bradley. He was able to connect with his half-brother, Larry Bradley, and another half-sister, Mary, all of Germany.
He is preceded in death by his father, James Clifton Bradley and his wife, of 48 years, Anita Luanne since May 28, 2023. He is survived by two daughters: Amanda Ann Bradley Ward (husband Brian) of North Wilkesboro, NC and Kelly Diane Bradley Bednarik (Husband Brad), of Unionville, NC. 6 grandkids: Madison Carlan (Hoke), Ryan Price, Hunter Morton (Keelee), Jayme Morton, Alex and Addison Bednarik, 2 great-grandkids: Willow and James Carlan, and another great-grand daughter on the way (Emery). He had 3 nieces, Kristy, Sarah Jessie, and one nephew, Sonny. He also leaves behind some very special friends that meant the world to him: Derry Simpson, Dolan Baucom, Randy Baucom, Tommy Broome, Jerrin Simpson, and all of his morning hang out buddies at Piedmont Store.
Marty's family would like to express their deep gratitude to the Gentiva Hospice staff for their wonderful care and support throughout his short time with hospice. Visitation will be held at McEwen Funeral Home in Monroe, Wednesday, April 10, 2024 from 5pm-8pm.
