Delline Starnes Melton, 90, of Monroe was called to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 9th, 2016 at Southern Care Assisted Living in Franklin, Tennessee.
Mrs. Melton is survived by her son Dennis Melton, wife Ginger, and grandchildren Katherine (fiancé Tyler Hellard) and Matthew Melton of Franklin Tennessee; her brother Ray Phillips (Maris Ann), her sister Joann Fowler and sister-in-law Joann Phillips of Waxhaw; and numerous nephews/nieces.
She was preceded in death by her husband Wade H. Melton, with whom she had lived and served in the Sandy Ridge community on Plyler Mill Road for many years, and her brother, Henry Lee Phillips.
Mrs. Melton was a dedicated Christian from her youth at Bethlehem United Methodist Church. She invested many years of service at Sandy Ridge Baptist Church as a children’s teacher. She and her husband participated in the recording ministry, visitation, and other church outreach programs. She worked at Manetta Mills in Monroe, and after her retirement from the Springs Mills Grace facility in Lancaster SC, Mrs. Melton volunteered with the American Red Cross. She and her husband were generous with the produce from their garden. She was devoted to her two grandchildren and other family members.
Services will be held at Sandy Ridge Baptist Church in Monroe at 4:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 12, 2016 with Reverend Eddie Powers officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Mrs. Melton’s honor be made to a local church or hospice organization for the aid of elderly neighbors.
