Wayne was born at Fort Benning, GA to Serge and Dorothy (Ersckoff) Champagne on August 28, 1961. He attended Newtown High School in Sandy Hook, CT and earned his Bachelor’s in accounting from Fairfield University, in Fairfield, CT. Wayne worked as a CPA since graduating college, and worked most recently for Loureiro Engineering. He loved fishing in his spare time, keeping his boat in Long Island Sound, and loved working around the yard and doing home improvement projects.
Wayne was preceded in death by his father, Serge, and his nephew, Michael Sclafani. Wayne is survived by his mother, Dorothy, sister, Monica (Sclafani) and her husband, Charlie and their children, Julianna, Carina and Dominic. In addition, he leaves behind several aunts, uncles, cousins and their children.
A memorial is planned for July 29th, with calling hours 4:00 to 7:00pm at Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe.
The Wayne’s family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to all his family and friends for their help during his illness, and doctors and staff at Yale-New Haven Smilow Cancer Hospital and the Regional Hospice Center in Danbury for all the care that they gave him.
