Theresa G. Dyer

Theresa G. Dyer passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 3, at the age of 95, with her cherished daughters and dear neighbor by her side. She was a wonderous force of nature and will be missed deeply.

Terri was born in Scranton, PA, in 1928, the 6th child of 9, to Julia (Durkot) and Paul Gillick. She moved to CT as a young woman, where she met her future husband and great love, William H. Dyer. They settled in Monroe in 1963, a small rural town that they both had fallen in love with. There she created a lovely and loving home, which meant the world to her.

Terri was many things to many people in her 95 years. First and foremost, she was an extraordinary mom to her two girls, Deb and Suz. She was well known at Chase Bank, which was originally City Trust, and where she served as head teller for many years. She did volunteer work, taught RCIA at St. Jude Church, and was active in the arts. She was an incredible writer, seamstress, avid stained glass hobbyist, and phenomenal cook. She enjoyed crafting, as well as fine art, music, and great food, especially when shared with family and friends. Terri was the perfect hostess, and made everything look effortless. She loved to travel, she loved the NY Yankees, and she loved life. Her favorite backdrops were the night skies, filled with stars and moons, and sunny skies that became her treasured sunsets.

Terri was beautiful, inside and out. She was a true trend setter, with an impeccable eye for design and detail, which was obvious in every aspect of her life. Her exquisite taste, elegance and grace were wrapped in ease and care, making everyone who met her feel comfortable and special.

Terri will be remembered for her overwhelming calm, kindness, generosity, huge heart, sage advice and great sense of storytelling, adventure, humor, curiosity and quest for fun. She was a woman of amazing strength and determination. She was brave, fair, loyal and true-- her faith carried her at every turn. And of course, we’ll all miss her contagious smile.

Terri is survived by her daughters Deb and Suz, to whom she gave the most magical of childhoods, her stepson Clark F. Dyer, her sisters Ann Pehanick, Dorothy Husvar, Joanne Sibio, her spouse Anthony Sibio, and her sister in law Barbara Gillick. She also leaves behind her grandchildren Tammy L. Dyer, Sean Dyer, Maria Gesford, Aaron Dyer, and many beautiful nieces, nephews and great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Bill, and her cherished siblings, Irene Senchak, Margaret Labosky, Mary Baron, and William and Paul Gillick.

Family and friends are invited to calling hours between 3 & 7pm on Tuesday, December 12th, at Spadaccino & Leo P. Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe, CT 06468. The Funeral Service will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 13th, at 10:30am at St. Jude Catholic Church, 707 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe, CT 06468. Interment to follow immediately at Monroe Center Cemetery, Old Tannery Road, Monroe, CT 06468.
