Sharon Flatow Petrower, 87, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 after a long illness. Sharon was born in Middle Village, Queens on May 17, 1937. She was predeceased by her parents, Celia and Harold Flatow, and her sister and brother-in-law, Audrey and Mickey Seide.
Family and friends were the center of Sharon's universe, and she enjoyed hosting holiday meals and family get-togethers. Her vegetable soup, stuffed cabbage, leg of lamb, stuffed cornish hen and noodle pudding were some of her specialties that were loved by everyone. Other than spending time with her family, Sharon loved to travel (especially on cruises), trips to the casinos, playing mahjong and cards.
After living in Fairfield, CT for many years, Sharon moved to a vibrant senior living community in Shelton, CT. There she enjoyed spending time with her newfound friends as they shared meals, played games, and enjoyed happy hour. But best of all, was the love she shared with her cat, Prince.
Sharon is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Kathy Petrower of Stamford, CT, daughter and son-in-law, Terri and Charlie Vreeland of Trumbull, CT, grandson Keith Petrower and his fiancée Jinhe Hu of Queens, NY, grandson Jeffrey Petrower, his wife Laura Petrower and their daughter Alice (Sharon's great-granddaughter) of NYC, grandson Matthew Petrower of Danbury, CT, granddaughter Nicole Vreeland of Fort Meyers, FL, granddaughter Jaime Vreeland of Brooklyn, NY, and granddaughter Samantha Vreeland of Trumbull, CT. Sharon is also survived by her ex-husband, Joel Petrower of Stratford, CT.
There was a private family graveside burial at Huntington Lawn Cemetery in Shelton, CT on Friday, December 13, 2024.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Sharon's name to an animal shelter of your choice or the Leukemia Foundation.
