Born in Bridgeport on February 18, 1932, he was preceded in death by his father Earl Wilson and his mother Helen and stepfather Julio Caruso.
Richard graduated from Warren Harding High School, class of 1949. In 1950, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and proudly served during the Korean War.
He is survived by his daughter Judy A. Veccherelli and his son Richard S. Wilson (Heather), and grandson Anthony J. Veccherelli. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Shirley after 44 years of marriage.
He enjoyed reading, politics, and watching movies. He had a passion for flying and would spend many hours at the Oxford Airport with friends.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Calling hours are Tuesday, November 20, 2018 from 4:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. at the Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe, CT. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Monroe Center Cemetery with full military honors.
