Born in Shelton, CT, Mary was the daughter of Elizabeth (Skislak) and Stanley Rosen. She graduated from Shelton High School Class of 1951. Mary owned Little Angels Clothing store in Monroe. Upon the store closing, she was a school bus driver for the Town of Monroe for 17 years and obtained her license as a certified bus trainer for the State of Connecticut, teaching the next generation of bus drivers. Mary served on the Transportation Committee for the Monroe Board of Education. Later, Mary worked for the Bridgeport/ Connecticut Post for 33 years in Customer Service, retiring at the age of 84.
Mary enjoyed socializing, traveling with family and friends, shopping and more shopping (the sparklier the better!) and hopping the train to New York City. Mary especially cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Grandma was their best cheerleader and was always ready for a lunch date! She always looked forward to her family vacations in Wildwood, NJ and visiting Mickey Mouse in Disney! Mary enjoyed life by laughing loudly and often. She readily shared hugs and “I love You”s with family and friends. She will be remembered for her generous spirit and her famous collection of scarves and pins.
We would like to thank Shelton Lakes Nursing Home staff for the compassionate care given to Mom.
Survivors include her daughter Mary Stuart and husband Ed of Monroe, sons Jerry Stevens and wife Kathy of Monroe, and Stan Stevens and wife Donna of Lee, NH.
