James Richard Cody

James Richard Cody, age 63 of Trumbull passed away suddenly on Friday, January 9, 2015. Jimmy to his friends, was born on November 17, 1951, in Jamaica Queens, New York to Rita S. and Francis X. Cody. He is succeeded by his wife, Marianne, and his two sons Christopher and Douglas, his older brother, Michael Cody of Redding, and two younger sisters, Susan Frazier of Houston, TX, and Jennifer Gately of Hopkinton, MA.

Jimmy grew up in Cos Cob, CT, graduated from Robert E. Peary High School in Rockville, MD, and received his Bachelor’s Degree from Sacred Heart University.

He lived his life to the fullest with his many interests and his witty intellect. He loved his professional career in the reinsurance business and was employed by General Reassurance Corporation, Cologne Life Re, Reinsurance Alternatives, and lastly, he was a partner and President of JEHRE Corporation prior to his retirement.

Jim was very active in sports during his life, particularly golf for work and play. He was a former member of Mill River Country Club and played on many well-known courses throughout the US, Ireland, and Scotland. He supported and coached his sons in their Trumbull soccer, little league, and hockey games. He also looked forward to their college rowing regattas and coordinated the hospitality tent for parents and rowers at Wesleyan University.

Jim loved his summer cottage at Cape Cod, driving around in his golf cart and launching sky lanterns to celebrate special occasions. He made lasting impressions with anyone he met and truly loved his family and lifelong friends. His untimely death is a tremendous loss for everyone who knew him. A Funeral Service will be held Friday, January 16, at 11am at the Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe. Interment will immediately follow in Lawncroft Cemetery, 1740 Black Rock Turnpike, Fairfield. Friends and Family may greet the family on Thursday, from 4pm-8pm at the funeral home.
