William “Billy” Sluder- a 71 year-old native of Mobile and resident of Irvington passed away Thursday, July 26, 2012. He was retired from the City of Mobile Police Department. Mr. Sluder was also the former owner of several local businesses. He was a member of Calvary Assembly of God, Loop Mason Lodge #895 F&AM, and the Abba Temple Shrine. An avid motorcycle enthusiast, Mr. Sluder was a member of the Wheels of Faith Motorcycle Ministries. He enjoyed classic cars and horses. Mr. Sluder was loved and cherished by all those who knew him. He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Sluder; sister, Barbara Gaines; and brother, Alfred Sluder. Mr. Sluder is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret “Vicky” Sluder; mother, Leo Rodgers Sluder; children, Tony Sluder (Krissy), Margie Creighton (Howard), Francine Lott (Gary), Jay Sluder (Crystal), Tony Bishop (Ashley), Melissa Sluder (Jason), Jesse Sluder (Kayla), Kim Howell, and Cheryl Howell; 14 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at 10 a.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral Home on Monday, July 30, from 5-8 p.m. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
